You don't have to be a financial wizard to win the modern money game

You don't have to love money. But you can pay a high price in misery and heartache for neglecting your finances. During my years in UK and international banking I've seen many losers and winners in the money stakes. The difference, in many cases, was knowing the rules of the game and adopting the right strategies to suit individual circumstances.

There are plenty of people ready to give you advice bank managers, accountants, financial advisers, insurance salespersons. Listen to them by all means, but at the end of the day the decision is yours.

I originally compiled this manual for the use of my family. It contains over 100 strategies, maxims, golden rules, do's and don'ts, check lists and the vital questions to ask before investing or borrowing money. No waffle. No jargon.

James Baldwin, my name sake but no relation, once said: "Anyone who has struggled with poverty knows how expensive it is to be poor." This site aims to help you keep what you have.

The information in this Guide is useful to anyone anywhere in the world except for the chapter on taxes which is specific to the UK.
